Meet Jetwhine

I’d like to thank Ivan and Alexey for suggesting this linkup between our aviation blog from the United States – Jetwhine.com - and this one here in Russia. I find the idea of interacting with many of you in the future to be a terribly exciting idea. I do hope you’ll find it as valuable on this side of the world as we will when we post some stories from these two young aviators in the US.

New Horizons

Busy Man and I profess a new approach to business aviation in Russia, so we thought: "Why don't we take a look at the market that holds three quarters of it (if not more)? If the majority of aviators in the world speaks English, why don't we?" That's how we launched the English version of our blog. The next logical step was to cooperate with a serious Western aviation blog. Experienced pilot, journalist, writer, and blogger Rob Mark, founder of the famous JetWhine blog, kindly accepted our offer. With his profound experience and great professionalism Rob will help us bridge the gap between the West and the East, between the cradle and the most developed business aviation market - the U.S. - and the promising but somewhat peculiar Russia. Welcome, Rob "Jetwhine" Mark! We're eager to see your posts!

Cessna Citation X: Not Gonna Get Us

Alternative: The Concorde ain’t around anymore; On Ground: Porsche 911

An unexpected one from Cessna. This Mach 0.92 bird from the 90-s can still outrun anything slower than a fighter jet.

The Jet Fascination

Jet airplanes possess an undeniable charm, and the Aero L-29 Delfín is a great machine with a lot of it. And it takes great photographer Mark Kozhura to capture the beauty and offer it for the world to see. Enjoy!

The Usual Plus Embraer

The impudent newcomer has managed to elbow his way among veteran manufacturers, but there’s barely room for anyone else.

Fire, Water and a Rotor

A helicopter doing its job looks stunning. Indispensable. Efficient. Plain beautiful.

Skilled photographer Mark Kozhura has skilfully captured this beauty. The Ka-32A is fighting fires in scorching Spain. Tough work - but nothing our helicopters can't handle. Step aside, don't get in the way! There's nothing else to say. The pictures speak louder than words.

Comrade Oligarkh

An experience not many in the Western world have had – flying a VIP conversion of a Soviet airliner. So does a good divan make the Tu-134 a plane to crave?

Cessna Picks Up Embraer’s Glove

The first victims are known even though the fight hasn’t even started। Citation XLS+ and Sovereign will find the peace they deserve.

I wouldn’t be surprised if head of Cessna Jack Pelton sees geographical puns in his dreams. As if Wichita suddenly moved to Sao Paolo, and the production facilities were surrounded by palm trees instead of the poplars and sunflowers he is accustomed to.

Jet Expo United

Photo: Mark Kozhura
Finally things have changed. We won’t have to suffer traffic jams getting to and from the static display at Moscow’s Vnukovo-3. But after last year’s huge party who says it won’t become a vanity fair?

It’s definitely a good thing that exhibitors and aircraft of Russia’s first and only business aviation show will come together and offer visitors the entire package in one place. This is what everyone has been waiting for, especially taking into account the unpredictable drive to the static display and the outrageous helitaxi prices. All is looking good, but there might be a change in the event’s philosophy that not everybody will like.

iPadomania in Business Aviation

The Apple epidemic is sweeping across the aviation world, and business aviation is no exception. It’s hard to call it a revolution, but some things are changing. Which way are we going?

Twenty-eight

It looks like that’s the exact number of business jets carrying the RA prefix on their tails.

We’ve heard many times from people working on the Russian business aviation market that only a few foreign bizjets are on the Russian state register. The vast majority is registered elsewhere. We’ve heard the estimate to be around twenty. Some professionals even start recalling each by “name”, literally counting along their fingers. None have gone through to the end though, reaching their second hand at best. The question is, if there are so little business jets of foreign make registered in Russia, why not count them by the tail?

Hawker 4000: Plastic Horse

Future Shock

Eurocopter X3
Those of you, who think the modern helicopter looks about as cool and thrilling as a Reliant Regal, think again because some developments that seemed too advanced to be convincing in the 50s now look as if they can redefine rotorcraft.
